As masts form the backbone of the rig, an optimum match between mast and sail is essential. The correct curve and stiffness ensures that the shaping, twist and response are consistent with the original design objectives.
Our analysis of mast performance extends far beyond the two dimensional IMCS system with only three reference points. All Severne masts are specifi ed along 7 offsets and computer faired to precisely match the luff curve of the sail.
All masts are full pre-preg construction, even in the lower carbon content masts such as the white line. In the prepreg process resin content is carefully controlled and the amount of fi bre content is optimised for maximum strength and reduced weight. By using high modulus carbon in conjunction with the unique high fi bre content, mast and rig response is maximized.

Our new white line RDM offers affordability combined with the durability of an RDM mast. The lightweight yet extremely durable RDM kid’s mast, is manufactured with a 60% carbon content.
